Brief Bio

Losi (or Losi the Giant Fisherman) is a prominent figure in Samoan mythology known as a heroic, mischievous giant and master fisherman, the son of the god Tagaloa. 

Losi was ordered by his father, Tagaloa, to catch fish for the gods. While in the heavens, Losi realized the gods were hoarding the best food (taro, seafood, fruit). He stole a taro shoot, hiding it in his loincloth to bring to earth, defying his father.

After returning to Earth, Losi encouraged other giants to fight the gods for these foods, resulting in a victory that allowed humans to have access to these staples.

 Losi is described as a loyal friend to humans and sea creatures, but also a trickster who caused the gods to slip and fall by placing fish on their doorsteps.
