Brief Bio

Auahitūroa is a prominent atua in Māori mythology, known as the personification of comets and the divine giver of fire to humankind. As the son of the sun god Tama-nui-te-rā, he brought the "seed of fire" to earth, marrying the fire goddess Mahuika and introducing the secret of fire to humanity, and fathering the five fingers (fire children).

The fire children are : Auahitūroa married Mahuika, the goddess of fire, and their children are known as the "Fire Children," which are equated with the five fingers (Takonui/thumb, Takoroa/index, Māpere/middle, Manawa/ring, Toiti/little finger).
