Brief Bio
Víðarr’s boot (or shoe) is a legendary item in Norse mythology worn by Odin’s son, Víðarr, to avenge his father's death at Ragnarök. It is used during Ragnarök to step into the jaw of the wolf Fenrir, which devoured Odin, and tear the wolf apart.
The boot is composed of all the extra leather pieces that people have cut from their own shoes at the heel and toe, making it a sacred, magically strong item. This thick, nearly indestructible boot enables Víðarr to withstand the wolf Fenrir's bite, break its jaw, and slay it. Because of this sturdy footwear, Víðarr survives the final battle and is one of the gods who survives to build the new world.
It symbolizes vengeance, the triumph of order over chaos, and a unique form of protection that grows stronger from discarded elements.
