Brief Bio
In Norse mythology, Skaði is a jötunn and goddess associated with bowhunting, skiing, winter, and mountains. Skadi's story begins with her seeking revenge on the gods for killing her father, Þjazi. She demands compensation, including the choice of a husband from among the gods, and the placing of her father's eyes in the sky as stars.
Marriage to Njord:
.
As part of her compensation, Skadi is allowed to marry one of the gods. She chooses Njord, the sea god, believing she will marry Baldr. However, their marriage is a mismatch, as Njord prefers the sea and Skadi the mountains. They eventually separate due to their incompatible living preferences.
In both the Poetic Edda and the Prose Edda, Skaði is responsible for placing the serpent that drips venom onto the bound Loki.
