Brief Bio
In Norse mythology, Regin is a dwarf blacksmith, son of Hreiðmarr, and foster father to Sigurd (also known as Sigurd the Dragon Slayer). Regin is a skilled smith and also acts as a tutor to Sigurd, teaching him languages, sports, chess, and runes. Regin has two brothers: Fafnir, who transforms into a dragon, and Ótr.
The story of Regin and Sigurd:
Hreiðmarr, Regin's father, is killed by Fafnir for the cursed gold obtained by Loki. Regin, wanting revenge and the gold, convinces Sigurd to kill Fafnir, the dragon who has become a guardian of the treasure. Sigurd, with the help of Odin and the sword Gram, kills Fafnir. While roasting Fafnir's heart, Sigurd tastes the blood and gains the ability to understand the language of birds, who warn him of Regin's treachery. Sigurd, knowing Regin's plan, kills him before he can strike. Sigurd takes the gold and eventually meets his own doom.
