Abode: The World Tree (Yggdrasil)

Key Info

- Squirel who acts as a messenger running up and down the world tree

Brief Bio

In Norse mythology, Ratatoskr is a legendary squirrel who serves as a messenger running up and down the cosmic ash tree, Yggdrasil. He carries messages and insults between the unnamed eagle at the treetop and the serpent Níðhöggr, who gnaws at the tree's roots. While sometimes seen as a mischievous troublemaker fueling conflict, other interpretations suggest Ratatoskr's actions maintain a balance of tension, or that he represents the cycle of destruction and rebirth symbolized by Yggdrasil.
