In Aztec mythology, Itztlacoliuhqui is the god of frost, ice, cold, winter, sin, punishment, and human misery. He is also associated with the lifeless state of matter. His name, "Curved Obsidian," refers to a knife or obsidian blade. He was once the god of dawn, Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli, before being transformed into Itztlacoliuhqui after a conflict with the sun god, Tonatiuh.
