Brief Bio

Sazae-oni are a type of yokai (supernatural creature) from Japanese mythology, specifically a type of obake that forms when turban snails live for 30 years. They are known for their ability to shapeshift, often taking the form of beautiful women to lure sailors into dangerous situations.

Legends also depict these creatures wandering into coastal or seaside inns whilst in human guise, whereupon they devour the innkeeper in the night and then escape before morning.
