Brief Bio

In Japanese mythology, Kunitsukami (国つ神) refers to the gods of the land, often contrasted with the heavenly gods, Amatsukami (天津神). They are deities associated with the earth, local regions, and the people who inhabit them. While historically distinguished, the distinction between Amatsukami and Kunitsukami is less emphasized in modern Shinto.
