Brief Bio

In Japanese mythology, Fukurokuju (福禄寿) is one of the Seven Lucky Gods, specifically associated with wisdom, longevity, and wealth. He is often depicted with a very long, elongated head, and is sometimes shown with a crane, turtle, or deer, all symbols of long life. Several sources say he is believed to be a Japanese adaptation of the Chinese star god Shou, one of the Sanxing (Three Stars). According to some Japanese mythology sites, he is also seen as a Taoist hermit from the Song Dynasty, possibly a reincarnation of the deity Xuantian Shangdi.
