In Japanese mythology, Benzaiten, also known as Benten, is a goddess associated with eloquence, good fortune, music, and knowledge. She originated from the Hindu goddess Sarasvati and is one of the Seven Lucky Gods. Benzaiten is also linked to water, often depicted with a biwa (a Japanese lute) and associated with snakes and sea serpents.
