Brief Bio
Daiyu Lin was born in 212 B.C.E., during the height of the Ian dynasty, in a quaint village nestled among sprawling rice paddies and ancient willow trees. This serene environment nurtured her dreams but also bore witness social disparities that raised questions in her young mind. As the daughter of a modest silk weaver, Daiyu lived comfortably enough without those soaring luxuries afforded to the elite classes; however, she often found herself wandering through marketplaces where desperate souls paraded their misfortunes under sun-baked awnings. She would watch as mothers clutched at their starving children while fathers implored buyers for any leftover scraps—scenes that left a heavy weight resting upon her heart.
Though money held little meaning in this era, its absence did not protect Daiyu from the harsh realities surrounding her family's humble abode. The villagers shared resources based on need and kinship more than commerce or wealth, yet poverty fragmented lives into profound tiers of suffering. Each day after helping with household chores and learning her mother's craft dyeing silks vibrant hues like a sunset or ripened fruits Daiyu took it upon herself along dusty trails toward the neighboring households affected by famine or illness. There is an old saying passed between generations: "Compassion is greater than gold," and every time she witnessed grief etched across familiar faces who suffered loss far beyond what she could comprehend, compassion fueled fires within her.
