Key Points / Halloween Connection

- Portuguese treat that is coconut-topped, fluffy bun served during All Saints' Day

Brief Bio

"Pães-de-Deus" is translated as "Pão-por-Deus" or "Bread for God" in English, which refers to a Portuguese tradition on All Saints' Day (November 1st) where children go door-to-door asking for sweets and "bread for God," similar to trick-or-treating. The actual sweet bread, also called Pão de Deus, is a coconut-topped, fluffy bun with origins rooted in a tradition of charity and prayer after a historic earthquake.
