Brief Bio
Haddonfield is a fictional town in the Halloween movie franchise and does not exist in Illinois or anywhere else. It was named by co-creator Debra Hill after her real-life hometown of Haddonfield, New Jersey, to serve as a quintessential American small town for the horror films.
In the Halloween universe, Haddonfield is depicted as a picturesque, suburban town in Livingston County, Illinois, 150 miles from Smith's Grove Sanitarium, where Michael Myers was institutionalized.
The original 1978 Halloween was filmed in various locations in and around Pasadena, California, including South Pasadena (where many key scenes like Laurie's house and the hedge were shot), Sierra Madre (for the cemetery scenes), and Hollywood (for the Wallace and Doyle homes).
