Key Points / Halloween Connection

- Irish god of sacrifice and fertility

Brief Bio

Crom Cruach was a pre-Christian Irish deity associated with sacrifice and fertility, later depicted as a demonic idol in folklore that St. Patrick confronted and destroyed. His name translates to roughly "crooked and bloody" and was associated with a golden idol surrounded by smaller stone figures, demanding blood offerings in return for prosperity. The site of his worship was called Magh Slécht, or "plain of prostrations".
