Brief Bio

Ichor is the ethereal, golden fluid that serves as the blood of the gods. It is described as being distinct from mortal blood and is said to be poisonous to humans. The concept of ichor appears in various myths, often when a god is wounded and their "blood" is revealed.

Ichor is not simply a different color of blood; it's a divine substance that sustains the immortality and power of the gods. In some depictions, it's associated with the gods' diet of nectar and ambrosia, implying it's a product of their divine sustenance.

A key characteristic of ichor is its toxicity to humans. Contact with ichor is believed to be instantly fatal for mortals, highlighting the fundamental difference between the divine and human realms.

While often described as golden, some interpretations suggest it might be colorless or watery, emphasizing its non-human nature. In Homer's Iliad, when Aphrodite is wounded, her ichor is described as flowing quickly and copiously, suggesting it's not a viscous substance like mortal blood.
