Key Info

- Mother of the Primordial Abosom

Brief Bio

In Akan mythology, Bosompo is a powerful sea deity, often referred to as the mother of the abosom (deities). She is believed to have emerged after Nyame (the supreme god), Asase Yaa (the earth goddess), and Abo (a primordial cluster of stones). Bosompo is associated with the sea and is seen as a protector of those who fish. Tuesdays are considered her sacred day, and when the sea is rough or fishing is poor, it's often attributed to her being displeased.
