In African mythology, Babalu Aye (also known as Obaluaye or Shopona) is the Orisha (deity) associated with illness, healing, and the earth. He is revered for his power over both disease and its cure, often depicted as an old, limping man with sores, yet also as a powerful force capable of miraculous healing.
