Brief Bio

In Akan (Ashanti) mythology, Amokye is the guardian of the threshold of death, the entrance to the Asamando (the land of the dead). She is a female figure who welcomes the souls of deceased women. She can be both compassionate and cruel, and her actions are sometimes seen as a test for those seeking to enter Asamando.
