Key Info

- Lesser deities who act as liasons between humans and the supreme being.

Brief Bio

The Abosom are deities or spirits in Akan religion who assist humans on Earth. The Akan people believe that Abosom are the children of God, and are his most capable representatives on Earth.  They are lower deities that receive power from the creator god and are often connected to the natural world. Priests mediate between the Abosom and humankind, and believers offer prayers and libations to them and to ancestors for health, fertility, prosperity, and protection. Humans rarely address their supreme being directly, but rather through the creators Abosom.
